Glucosamine benefits

Glucosamine may help build tissue that holds water providing cartilage thickness and giving it a cushioning effect. Dozens of scientific studies with animals and humans have clearly demonstrated that dietary supplementation of glucosamine in combination with chondroitin, another building block of cartilage, benefits connective tissues. Glucosamine accomplishes this in two ways. The first is by acting as a raw material for the chondrocytes. Glucosamine contains an amino group that is positively charged at physiological pH . The anion included in the salt may vary.

Glucosamine sulfate also has hundreds of research studies showing its benefits. Other varieties have yet to demonstrate the same level of effectiveness in clinical trials. Glucosamine in a cream form may be nice for your skin, but there's no evidence suggesting that Glucosamine alone can be absorbed through the skin. Anecdotal evidence suggests that liquid glucosamine, in fact, is the best form to take. Glucosamine salts, on the other hand, are bitter and generally have an unpleasant taste.

Glucosamine is naturally-occurring in connecting tissue and can be considered a nutrient when ingested in foods. Although usually as part of connective tissue, glucosamine is a normal body component that happens to be an important control element and raw material. Glucosamine is non-toxic, with oral doses of 8 grams per Kg body weight to mice, rats, rabbits and dogs not causing any problems, even after months of dosing.

Studies carried out in respect of glucosamine have not only show how effective it is in treating the symptoms associated with arthritic problems but is also a lot safer. Studies on glucosamine intake have shown that glucosamine in liquid form fairs better and produce more qualitative results than capsule or tablet ones produced by low-quality manufacturers. Synflex manufactures from pharmaceutical grade glucosamine for arthritis patients, athletes, and even pets suffering from joint problems! Studies have shown that a liquid herbal product such as Ardefen is more 'bio available' than the pill form of the same herb or dietary supplement. For example, the nutrients in a liquid taken by mouth are absorbed at a rate of 60% - 70% compared to pills or tablets that are absorbed at a rate of only 5% - 20%.

Studies on the benefits of glucosamine have been mixed. While some studies have found that glucosamine relieves the symptoms of arthritis such as joint pain and swelling, others have found that glucosamine offers no benefit over a placebo. Studies have shown that Ibuprofen can relieve more pain in the first 2 weeks than Glucosamine, but at 4 weeks and beyond the Glucosamine is better at reducing pain. The reason is that the Glucosamine is really working at fixing the problem - not just the symptoms. Studies suggest that glucosamine is equally as effective as some of the medications frequently used to treat this joint condition, but with fewer gastrointestinal side effects. The medications used to treat osteoarthritis are known as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen and piroxicam.

Studies with both the sulfate and hydrochloride forms have been positive.".He further states "The sulfate form has the most research evidence to back its use. However, this is probably related to the simple fact that this form was patented in Europe and more research money was available for study.". Studies have revealed that cancer can and does occur in families that have smokers and nonsmokers. It would seem a gene can increase the vulnerability of smokers in getting lung cancer.
